In addition to classes, I also present lectures and demonstrations on Bentos and Japanese Cooking at conventions, schools, grocery stores, cultural events and festivals. My lectures can include information on the history of bentos, cultural appreciation, Japanese recipes and power point presentations designed to fulfill the interests of the lecture setting. Lectures can focus on health and nutrition, children's lunches, modern Japanese cultural nuances, traditional favorites, cuisine instruction or an overview touching on all of these areas. Some audiences may prefer lectures shaped around healthy lunches for children using favorite American foods rather than Japanese foods.
Demonstrations are fun and lively interactions where attendees can observe the packing of food into bento boxes and the myriad decorating techniques available. There are a variety of useful tools for bento packing that are often a source of bewilderment to western eyes. During demonstrations I can demystify tools and techniques that simplify healthy lunch packing on a daily basis.
If you are interested in hosting a lecture or demonstration, please contact me by email. Likewise, if you would like me to present a panel at a convention please let me know!
Over the last five years I have given lectures at various conventions across the country, including Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and California. If I am traveling in an area, I am always happy to give a lecture, demo or class while I'm there!
